I am a crazy dog lady. In fact I am THE crazy dog lady. If you follow me on any social media platform you’ll know that I love my little Shih-Tzu, Mushu, dearly. He features on my Snapchat (add me: lookitscarina) almost daily.
Getting Mushu is one the best decisions I have ever made.
Let me tell you why having pets are the best:
They’re a source of unconditional love <3
Regardless of your personality, age, race, economic standing or mood, your animal will love you without limits. All they ask in return is a bit of love and the occasional treat of course.
They don’t judge
Ate that entire tub of ice cream by yourself while watching reruns of 7de Laan? No worries. Spent three hours taking selfies? No biggie. Bitched to your significant other about your boss? No problem.
Who will tell or judge you for being a normal human being? Not your dog, that’s for sure! But who will judge? Me. And I’m telling you now that taking selfies for three hours is not normal. Get help.
They forgive easily
Mushu is a ninja. A fluffy ninja that sneaks up on you silently while you’re cooking dinner or standing at the sink brushing your teeth or sitting at a desk. I’ve accidently stepped on him numerous times, he yelped like he was being murdered, I apologised profusely, we made up and after all that he still loves me. Granted he now wears a doggy bell around his neck so that I can hear him coming into the room.
They calm you down
When deadlines are tight and work is stacked up, I often look at pictures of Mushu sleeping peacefully on my phone. It has a magical ability to instantly make me feel calmer about whatever is currently going on in my life. You should try it.
Few things in life are as entertaining as a pet. All the cat videos on YouTube proves my point. Even when they’re not doing something silly like carrying out all your clean socks and panties onto the front lawn *awkward cough, looks over at Mushu* just watching them snooze or play with their toys is mindlessly fun and relaxing.
My front door has a big glass pane in and I can see the garden through it. When I chill on the couch, I often watch Mushu while he’s outside. It never fails to put a smile on my face.
They’re darn cute
A fluffy face is one of life’s greatest joys. Who doesn’t want to mess up all that adorable fur?
