A couple of weeks ago I went for a facial with my mom. It was at a salon I wasn’t familiar with so being the beauty blogger and ever curious product junkie, my heart was aflutter!
A bit of background
I have VERY dry skin. Before the facial, I got married a month earlier and all the pre-wedding stress, stress of being in that damn armed robbery two days after, traveling to Zanzibar, coming back and being dunked into my day job again had taken its toll. Even though I stopped wearing make up a week before my wedding (12 November 2016) to give my skin a break, it didn’t recover entirely and I suffered from more-than-usual-dryness, yet my epidermis still looked oily in the afternoon. I was getting quite frustrated because my usual skincare routine didn’t seem to be doing its job like usual. My skin looked dull yet I still exfoliated regularly, slathered on my daily sunscreen, eye cream and my night cream. GAH!
My mom and I went to the Brooklyn Mall branch for our 30-minute facials. The salon is immaculate and I adore the fresh, modern aesthetics.
Luckily, we arrived early (as one should when going to a new salon), filled in a simple form and drank some water. We were then escorted to our various treatment rooms. The staff are truly wonderful and knowledgeable.
I explained my top skin concerns (extreme dehydration, aging and uneven skin tone). The esthetician then used products targeted to my concerns. I was so relaxed and enjoyed the scents of the products used on my skin so much that I *almost* drifted off to LaLa Land.
First, let’s talk about the packaging. The exfoliating serum comes in a compact white container with a pump which is great because it means getting the product out is hygienic. I’m not a big fan of the label because if it gets wet it will lift and come off easily.
However, I am a gigantic fan of the miracle liquid that’s inside!
The product is a concentrated exfoliator serum that contains a blend of black current extract and natural fruit extracts that help to slough away the dry, dead and dull skin cells that naturally occur on the surface of the skin. The exfoliator doesn’t leave your skin feeling tight and even more dehydrated as it contains moisturisers that boosts the natural moisture content. It is suitable for all skin types (SCORE!).
What I love about this product is that it doesn’t sting or burn when you apply it, smells fantastic and leaves my skin exfoliated yet not dried out. Because it is a serum, no micro tearing occurs.
Please note that this product should be applied to clean, dry skin. It doesn’t work as well when your face is wet.
I’ve been using this product for a couple of weeks now. Using it twice a week is perfect. My skin now looks youthful and isn’t nearly as parched as before.
This amazing product retails for R295.
