March has come and gone and it’s time for a favourites post. I haven’t done a favourites post in a loooong time and that is mostly due to the fact that I’ve decided in 2017, I WILL NOT get sucked into blogger hysterics. If I don’t need a product, I’m not buying it. Read more about this decision here.
With that said, let’s get into the March favourites:
Can I just mention that if you think your micellar removes all your make up (like your favourite YouTuber has claimed), you (and your favourite YouTuber) is wrong. Micellar water only removes the top layer of make up that hasn’t gotten a chance to seep into your pores yet. Take a clean cotton pad and toner and see how much still comes off after using micellar water. I’m ashamed to admit that I only discovered this a year and a half ago. Now I use precleanse, facial wash and toner to get the day off my face.
The Dermalogica Precleanse smells like oranges, melts away impurities and stubborn make up and doesn’t irritate my sensitive, dry skin. However, it can get messy. It is quite difficult to avoid the deep cleansing oil from spilling over your hands when you’ve pumped out product to apply to your face.
Dermalogica Daily Superfoliant
After learning that many exfoliants with microbeads cause micro-tearing, I decided to steer clear and find something else to use weekly. This resurfacer helps fight biochemical and environmental triggers known to accelerate the skin’s aging process. When the powder comes in contact with water it releases enzymes and skin-smoothing alpha hydroxyl acids that combats pollution. Activated Binchotan charcoal purifies your skin by absorbing toxins from deep within the pores. Now for someone who sits in damn traffic every day, this sounds like a good deal. 😉 Get your hands on the product here.
Dermalogica Super Rich Repair
As I’ve mentioned 3 000 times before on here, I have extremely dry skin. The only thing that seems to help is this heavy weight moisturizer. I precleanse, wash my wash with my facial wash, tone and then slather on this bad boy. Proper hydration has made such a massive difference in my skin! The product is lightly fragranced, very rich and luxurious and doesn’t become a sticky mess.
Eucerin Sun Crème
Apart from having dry skin, I also have very fair skin and can’t tan at all. I wear this 50+ sun crème every single day of my life on my face. I’ve made peace with the fact that I can’t tan but fuck that, I’m not looking like a handbag by the time I’m 35. K bye.
What I really love about this product is that you can skip a day cream when wearing this and it doesn’t have that weird biscuity smell many sunscreens have.
L.A. Girl Strobe Lite Strobing Powder in 70 Watt
Blinding highlight is all the rage right now and I know I said previously in this post that I refuse to give in to blogger antics but after going out for dinner with Sarah from Mascara and Mimosas, I got to try the product and since I trust Sarah’s opinion, I bought my own one the next week. This product is great. It’s very comparable to a MAC highlighter. In fact, I think once I run out I will repurchase this because it truly is a fantastic product for an even greater price (R149.00).
The Balm Nude Dude Volume 2
Send me nudes. ✌️📸 #bblogger #bbloggers #pretoria #southafrica #thebalm #masterclass #makeup #makeuplover #nude #nofilter #gorgeous #beauty #favourite #eyeshadow #eyeshadowpalette #beautyblogger #beautybloggers #southafricanblogger #southafricanbeautyblogger #blogger #instadaily #instagood #igerssouthafrica
The entire world has been going crazy for nudes and neutrals thanks to the Kardashian-Jenner crew. I ADORE a bold, bright lip but shy away from it with eyeshadows. However, I attended a master make up class hosted by celebrity make up artist, Gina Myers and got this eyeshadow palette after the class. Doesn’t the girl on the packaging look like Gina? 😉
Usually I don’t invest in an eyeshadow palette easily because there’s always one or two colours in the palette that I know I will never use but it’s different with this palette. I like every colour however Firm has a special place in my heart (read: it’s my favourite colour in the palette). Also, I just die over The Balm product packaging and the names are always very tongue-in-cheek.
